Ceylon Kennel Club
Our History

The Ceylon Kennel Club which was founded by the British Planters and Businessmen in 1899, a century ago, during the British era, was closely conducted by the Rules and Regulations governing The Kennel Club of England. The Ceylon Kennel Club adopts the Rules and Regulations of The Kennel Club of England.

Due to the restrictions of imports from the year 1970 and the dwindling of the pedigreed variety we did not conduct dog shows. Once the restriction were removed and new blood lines were introduced an enthusiastic band of dog lovers, all of whom own  and love Pedigree Dogs, met on 8th April 1988 and decided to get going with the Ceylon Kennel Club's affairs and continued holding pedigreed dog shows. In the year 1999 we held the centenary year show. In the year 2007 we held the centenary Dog show with a record of 210 dogs. Two eminent judges licensed in all categories judged the dogs in two rings simultaneously on two days.
